Our Wednesday Craft Group relaunched post 2021 lockdown, with a new name – “You Can Make It!” and a practical first project!

The easy version of making a reusable mask is simply a square of lightweight cotton folded with two elastic bands. Several participants chose to upgrade to hat elastic and experimented with different ways to sew the ear loops more permanently in place.

While the sewing machines were on hand for a more involved design that in the end no one felt up to trying… they were put to use to adjust reusable masks that people had previously bought, but were not fitting correctly.

To reduce landfill from single-use masks and in order to have spares so to be able to wash their reusables more often/regularly is why people were interested to try the workshop. As always some people just joined so they could see what was going on and have a great chat!
